The following is a description of the Baseball league. It was
taken in 1932... Perry Co Baseball Team The team competed in the Perry County Towns
League. The towns that competing were: Sereno, Perryville,
Altenburg, Appleton, St. Mary's? and Oak Ridge.
The Serino team was founded and managed by Father Harry
Schlueter, who was the resident priest at the Catholic Church in
Serino. Although it was called the Serino team only two players
were from Serino: Lester HUNT and Joe BISHOP. Kelly Reddich,
Jack UNNERSTALL, Clarence BERGMAN< Virgil POPP, John LOTTES and
Leroy HUNT were all from Perryville. Herman BAUWENS and
Raymond SWAN were from McBRIDE area. I don't remember where Glen
CHRISTINSEN and Wm. WIBBENMEYER lived.
Positions held were: Coach: Elmer WALTER. 3rd Base: Glen CHRISTISEN. Utility infield / outfield: Kelly REDDICH. Catcher: (a really good catcher and power hitter) Joe BISHOP. Pitcher: Jack UNNERSTALL. Outfield: Clarence BERGMAN. Short Stop: John LOTTES. Utility in field / outfield: Wm WIBBENMEYER. Pitcher: Herman BAUWENS. Pitcher and Outfield: Raymond SWAN. 2nd Base: Leroy HUNT. Umpire: Charley HUNT. Manager (and also played 1st Base at times): Fr. Harry
SCHLUETER. The Bat Boy is Harlan WACHER.
As I recall the picture was taken because the team that year
were the League Champions. This information was provided in a letter on 1995 by Harlan ___,
of Ballwin, MO.
I can only identify my great uncle Joe BISHOP: the third player
in uniform from the left.
